Republican Presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy blasted the U.S. Department of Education for creating “psychopaths” through gender ideology agendas while the nation’s schools are left unprotected from mass shooters like the one that terrorized a Nashville elementary school this week.

“The real question is why this psychopath in Nashville was able to get into the school in the first place,” the Ohio entrepreneur and anti-woke crusader wrote in a tweet. “We protect green pieces of paper in a bank with more armed guards than we do our kids in schools … There’s more security at a random mall than in a public school.”

Audrey Hale, a 28-year-old woman who, according to reports, identifies as a man, shot her way into a Nashville private elementary school on Monday and gunned down three children and three adults. Nashville police arrived quickly and killed the shooter. Hale was a former student at the school.

The president of the Catholic League said Tuesday that the Nashville school shooting “needs to be investigated as a hate crime against Christians” based on the report by the police chief that the transgender shooter held “some resentment for having to go to that school.”

“The shooter, Audrey Hale, is a female who misidentified herself as a male,” wrote Bill Donohue, who heads the Catholic civil rights organization. “Her resentment against The Covenant School, a Christian school, is important given that Christianity teaches we are either male or female.”

Ramaswamy, who announced his campaign for the White House a little over a month ago, has said he would shut down the U.S. Department of Education if elected.

“We spend $80BN+ per year through the U.S. Dept of Education that helps fund radical gender ideology to create psychopaths, yet don’t protect kids in our schools from being killed by them,” he said. “That’s wrong.”

The Department of Education sought $88.3 billion in discretionary funding for the current budget year — a $15.3 billion (21%) increase from the 2021 budget. Last year, the department proposed a rule that ties billions of dollars in federal education funds to a litany of LGBT mandates.

As The Center Square reported, the policies mean schools nationwide must comply with a series of pro-transgender policies in areas such as sports, housing, locker rooms and bathrooms if they want to continue receiving federal funds.

“While the circumstances may vary, a school could endanger its federal funding by refusing to use a student’s preferred pronouns or to let a biological male who identifies as a girl use female bathrooms and locker rooms,” the news outlet reported.

“I’ll shut down the U.S. Dept of Education and use the savings to protect every kid in America from something like this from ever happening again. This shouldn’t be controversial,” Ramaswamy said in his tweet.
