On Monday, U.S. Senator JD Vance announced his endorsement for Republican businessman Bernie Moreno in his run for U.S. Senate against Ohio Democratic U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) in 2024.

Moreno previously filed paperwork with the Federal Election Commission to run for Senate in 2024 and to challenge Democratic incumbent Brown. He officially announced his campaign last month, saying that it’s time for a new generation of political outsiders to come in and get the job done to put America First.

“I’m running for US Senate because I’ve had enough of the insider politicians in both parties selling us out. They’re too weak and too cowardly to get the job done. We need a new generation of political outsiders with some spine to put America First,” Moreno said.

According to the announcement from Sen. Vance, he is thrilled to endorse Moreno and believes that he will be a fantastic senator.

“Thrilled to endorse Bernie Moreno for senate. He’s a good friend, a job creator, and will be a fantastic senator. We’d make a hell of a team!” Sen. Vance said.

Sen. Vance noted in a statement to Breitbart that Moreno will be a huge asset to the U.S. Senate as he is dedicated to protecting Ohioans, defending the southern border, dealing with China, confronting the woke corporations at war with conservative values, and will always put America First as a U.S. Senator.

Moreno thanked Sen. Vance for the endorsement calling it an “honor.”

“I’m honored to have JD Vance’s endorsement to join him in representing Ohio in the United States Senate! Together we will work hard every day to fight for Ohio families and always put America first,” Moreno said.

According to a statement Moreno made to Breitbart, Sen. Vance, also a political outsider and entrepreneur, has shown in his time so far as a U.S. Senator that Washington DC really needs to start implementing a new way of thinking.

Moreno has also received support from 2024 presidential candidate and former President Donald Trump, saying that he would not be easy to beat.

“Word is that Bernie Moreno, the highly respected businessman from the GREAT STATE of OHIO, and the father-in-law of fantastic young Congressman, Max Miller, is thinking of running for the Senate. He would not be easy to beat, especially against Brown, one of the worst in the Senate!” Trump said.

Although this is not an endorsement, it shows that Trump is closely watching the candidates running or preparing to run for Senate in Ohio. Moreno has already endorsed Trump for president in 2024.

Earlier this month Donald Trump’s former ambassador to Morocco, David Fischer “proudly” announced his endorsement of Moreno.

Conservative nonprofit organization Turning Point Action also endorsed Moreno’s Senate run saying he will help rebuild America when he gets to the U.S. Senate.

“My friend Bernie Moreno is the example of a “Return to Patriotism” we need. He built his business from the ground up, and I know he’ll help rebuild America when he joins JD Vance in the US Senate from the great state of Ohio. I’m proud to support Bernie. He has Turning Point Action’s full endorsement,” Turning Point USA Founder Charlie Kirk said.

Republican State Senator Matt Dolan (R-Chagrin Falls), who finished third in last year’s primary election, also announced his candidacy. Ohio Republican Secretary of State Frank LaRose told The Ohio Star that he is also actively considering running.

In 2022, Moreno ran an unsuccessful campaign for the Senate before withdrawing from the race before the primary. After meeting with Trump, who would later support one of his opponents, U.S. Senator JD Vance (R-OH), he decided to withdraw.

Since Ohio has shifted to the right in statewide and federal races since 2016, Brown is one of the more vulnerable Senate Democrats in the 2024 cycle.
