Tennessee Representative Tim Burchett (R-TN-02) announced that he was selected to serve on three House committees in the 118th Congress.

Burchett will be returning to serve on both the House Transportation & Infrastructure Committee and House Foreign Affairs Committee. Burchett was also chosen to serve as a new member on the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability.

The Transportation and Infrastructure Committee is chaired by Representative Sam Graves (R-MO-06).

“The federal government would do well to look at Tennessee as an example of how to successfully handle transportation in a fiscally responsible way,” Burchett said in a statement. “I’m excited to continue representing Tennessee’s values as we work on modernizing our critical infrastructure without breaking the bank.”

Graves welcomed Burchett back to the committee, saying that he is “confident” that Burchett will be a “valuable member of our Committee as we work to develop solutions to improve our infrastructure, strengthen transportation programs, and help alleviate ongoing energy and supply chain problems on behalf of the American people.”

The second committee Burchett will be returning to, the House Foreign Affairs Committee, is chaired by Representative Michael McCaul (R-TX-10).

“It’s clear by looking at places like China, Afghanistan, and Russia that our foreign policy under the Biden administration hasn’t served the best interests of the American people,” Burchett said. “I’m looking forward to using my position on this committee to confront the real challenges we face on the world stage while prioritizing our needs here at home.”

Burchett was also tapped to serve on the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability, which has a mission to “ensure the efficiency, effectiveness, and accountability of the federal government and all its agencies” and will be led by Representative James Comer (R-KY-01).

“I’ve been pushing for our government to be more transparent and accountable to the American people since I came to Congress,” Burchett stated. “I’m thrilled to serve on this committee, and I’m looking forward to shining a light on all the shady dealings in Washington that have been swept under the rug for too long.”
