Tennessee Governor Bill Lee and his wife, First Lady Maria Lee, released a video message wishing Tennesseans a Merry Christmas on Saturday.

“Merry Christmas, Tennessee. The holiday season is a time to reflect on the hope that God brings in our lives, regardless of our circumstances, and a time to thank him for all of his blessings,” Bill Lee’s Christmas message began.

“As we celebrate the ultimate gift – the birth of Christ – we’re also reminded to give generously to others,”  Maria Lee continued. “Scripture calls us to generosity, and this year, we’ve seen Tennesseans give abundantly. We appreciate all who have answered the call to serve their neighbors.”

“Maria and I thank God for the hope this season brings, and we wish you and yours a Merry Christmas,” the governor said.

Bill Lee shared the message on social media, adding, “This Christmas Eve, @MariaLeeTN and I pray for peace over you & your family as we anticipate the hope tomorrow brings, the birth of Christ.”

During this year’s holiday season, the Lee family encouraged Tennesseans to give back to their communities by donating to nonprofit organizations. The Governor’s Mansion’s Christmas décor theme this year – “The Gift of Giving” – highlighted the many ways Tennesseans give back to others, as previously reported by The Tennessee Star.

Maria Lee recently shared a video that shows all of the donations guests donated when visiting the Tennessee Residence – also known as the Governor’s Mansion – during December.

“We are overwhelmed by the outpouring of generosity we’ve seen from guests who visited the Residence for a Christmas tour. These items will bless Tennesseans in need in every corner of our state this holiday season,” Maria Lee wrote in a social media post.
