A U.S. senator from Tennessee slammed President Joe Biden for his open borders policies, and contextualized the amount of illegal aliens who will cross into the United States under the Biden administration.

“With an estimated 5,500,000 illegal border crossings so far, Biden is on track over a 4-year term to allow illegal immigration in an amount nearly double the entire population of Tennessee,” Sen. Bill Hagerty (R-TN) said Tuesday on Twitter.

Hagerty continued, blasting the Biden administration for its immigration policy.

“At least 98 people on the terrorist watch list and nearly 2.37 million migrants were encountered at our southern border in FY22. Biden is jeopardizing Americans’ safety and fueling this crisis by failing to secure our nation,” he said in a Twitter post.

He also noted that America has a crisis of fentanyl overdoses, a potent deadly drug which is often used to lace other drugs. Fentanyl is produced abroad and brought to the United States, largely through the open southern border.

“Fentanyl, the leading cause of death in the U.S. for adults age 18 to 45, is pouring in from our southern border. No community is left untouched by this rampant drug crisis. When will Biden stop putting politics over the American people & secure our border?” he tweeted.

He also commented on a story by Fox News regarding women who were saved from human trafficking.

“This is the heartbreaking result of Biden’s refusal to secure our southern border. Criminals and cartels are exploiting our immigration policies to make billions of dollars from drug and human trafficking—and it’s ignored by the Biden Administration & corporate media,” he wrote.

His counterpart, Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), has also spent a fair bit of time this week hammering the Biden administration on illegal immigration, as reported by The Tennessee Star.

In the lead-up to the midterm elections on November 8, immigration is an important issue for Americans.

“According to a recent Harvard-Harris poll, 58 percent of Republicans describe immigration as a “very important” issue in the 2022 midterm elections, which will be held on November 8,” The Star reported. “It is the third-most important issue for the political right, behind the economy and crime.”
