Former President Donald Trump endorsed Republican candidate Andy Ogles for Tennessee’s 5th Congressional District on Saturday.

In a statement, Trump said, “Andy Ogles will be an outstanding Representative for Tennessee’s 5th Congressional District! As the former and outstanding Mayor of Maury County, Andy knows how to Create Jobs, Grow the Economy, Keep our Neighborhoods Safe, and Protect our Constitutional Rights. In Congress, Andy will Secure our Southern Border, Stop Inflation, Uphold the Rule of Law, and Defend our Second Amendment. Andy Ogles is a tireless fighter for our America First agenda, and has my Complete and Total Endorsement!”

Ogles won the Republican nomination for the 5th Congressional District seat in the August primary election. He will be facing Democratic nominee Heidi Campbell in the midterm election on November 8.

Ogles has served as Mayor of Maury County, Tennessee, since 2018 and helped negotiate over $5 billion in economic investment for the county during his time as mayor.

On his campaign website, Ogles states that he is running “to get the federal government out of Tennessee and faithfully represent the people of Tennessee’s 5th Congressional District.” In Washington D.C., Ogles states that he will fight for personal freedom, limited government, fiscal stewardship, and conservative values.

In addition to Trump, Ogles has been endorsed by Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX). Ogles and Cruz will appear together at a rally in Franklin on October 26. Ogles has also been endorsed by the conservative House Freedom Fund (HFF) and personal finance advice guru Dave Ramsey.

Tennessee early voting runs from October 19 through November 3, with the deadline for requesting a mail-in ballot on November 1. Mail-in ballots must be returned on voting day, November 8.
