A U.S. congressman from Arizona says Republicans plan to impeach President Joe Biden and other high-level officials following the midterm elections, when the Republican Party is expected to regain control of the House of Representatives.

“On day one, my colleagues and I will be looking to impeach President Joe Biden, Department of Homeland Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, and Attorney General Merrick Garland,” said Representative Andy Biggs (R-AZ-05) on Twitter. “All three are in dereliction of their duties. We have the resolutions ready to go.”

He attached a clip of an interview with radio show host and activist Charlie Kirk, Biggs explained that the impeachment process is already in motion.

“Already we have numbers of filed resolutions, articles of impeachment,” Biggs said. “So they’re already there, and as soon as November happens, we need to update those and get those ready to prepare to refile again on day one.”

By “day one,” Biggs was referring to January 3, 2023, when the next Congress will be sworn into office.

“So early January, when you’re sworn in, you refile those,” he said. “Second thing is, preservation letters have gone out to various individuals and agencies to save documents that are going to be necessary to go through and provide the necessary – adequate oversight – necessary constitutional remedies that we have here.”

“Third thing is,” Biggs said, “the [Republican] leadership has go to make sure that the committees are formed and ready to go, and I’ve talked to the two putative chairmen, Jamie Comer for [the Oversight and Reform Committee] and Jim Jordan for [the House Judiciary Committee]. They are, quite frankly, making preparations now to do the adequate oversight and constitutional obligation that we are going to have to do.”

One of the duties in which Biggs appears to believe Biden is derelict is in regard to securing the southern border, which the congressman suggested in a Thursday tweet is a national security issue.

“We’re not even halfway through the Biden presidency and immigration officials have encountered 80+ terrorists on the Terrorist Watchlist,” he said. “Imagine the folks we haven’t caught. We don’t know where they are or what their intentions will be.”

Biggs on Thursday also invited members of the Biden administration to the border and suggested that the administration, by not accepting his invitation, is expressing its disinterest in doing its duty to protect the nation from foreign invaders.
