Arizona’s firebrand Republican gubernatorial candidate is calling on her Democrat opponent, who is also the secretary of state and in charge of elections, to recuse herself from the race.
“…Over a year ago we said [Secretary of State Katie Hobbs] should recuse herself,” Lake said on The Charlie Kirk Show alongside Republican U.S. Senate nominee Blake Masters. “I mean, she’s supposed to be helping to make sure we have fair elections, right? And she’s called half of Arizona – she called the Republicans – nazis.”
“How do you treat that group of people fairly if that’s how you refer to them?” Hobbs asked rhetorically. “She’s run incompetent elections. I mean, we found out in Pinal County just this last election – the primary election – that one hour into the voting day on election day, they ran out of Republican ballots. Not Democrat ballots. They ran out of Republican ballots. They ran out of ballots at more than a quarter of the polling places. And guess who gave them advice on how many ballots they needed? Katie Hobbs.”
At the same time, the Lake campaign is continuing to slam Hobbs over what it sees as a radical pro-abortion agenda.
“We already knew that Katie Hobbs is a radical abortion extremist who doesn’t support any restrictions. Last April, she was asked which restrictions, if any, she would support. She refused to answer the question – twice,” Lake’s campaign said in a Tuesday statement.
“Last Thursday, Phoenix’s AZ Family tried to chase down Katie Hobbs again on what exactly her position on abortion is,” the statement said. “Hobbs once again refused to name a single restriction on abortion she would support in her answer, instead telling AZ Family that she was ‘standing by’ her previous comments.”
Hobbs apparently supports abortions up until birth.
“A vote for Katie Hobbs is a vote to put the agenda of the most extreme abortion radicals into the Arizona governor’s office. Hobbs is so extreme that she once voted against a bill that would make it a felony to perform an abortion solely because of the child’s race or gender; she even voted against enhancing Arizona law to ensure babies that are born alive are given medical treatment if they survive an abortion.”
