Arizona Representative Andy Biggs (R-AZ-05), among other Arizona representatives, recently slammed the January 6 committee, calling it a show trial and distraction.

“The January 6 committee is nothing more than a partisan sham the Democrats are using to distract Americans from the massive failures of the Biden administration that has created unprecedented price hikes and inflation at a 40 year high,” Biggs tweeted.

This is not the first time Biggs has spoken against the January 6 committee.

“The Democrats have basically corrupted every institution in America. Not the least of which is this institution [Congress]. Not the least of which is the committees and the roles of committees,” Biggs said. “This [the January 6 Committee] is designed for television. It’s not designed to find truth. It’s not designed to say let’s come up with a legitimate legislative purpose. Which is what the Supreme Court says you have to have if you’re going to have a subpoena in the first place.”

Other Arizona reps have spoken out against the January 6 committee, including Paul Gosar (R-AZ-04) and Debbie Lesko (R-AZ-08).

“As our beloved country suffers from record inflation, crime and food shortages, democrats in Congress are hosting a show trial about January 6, 2021. If you have not heard of the term show trial, it is something that the Soviet Union and China used to do as hard-core communists. The trial is a one-sided farce where only one side gets to speak and participate and the goal is not getting at the truth, but to humiliate and jail your political rivals. The democrats are now basically engaging in classic communist tactics to attack their political opponents using the state functions like prosecutors and trials. This is an unconstitutional and anti-American development,” Gosar said in his newsletter.

Moreover, Lesko openly questioned why the U.S. Capitol was not better secured on January 6th.

“I don’t understand why Speaker [Nancy] Pelosi, who is in charge of the chief of Capitol Police and the sergeant at arms in the House, why didn’t they secure the Capitol better? I mean, I didn’t get any inside intelligence like the Speaker of the House did, and I knew there may be problems,” Lesko said in her January 6th statement.

Lesko spoke further about the issue of Capitol security in an interview on Newsmax.

“I mean, whoever was in charge of coming up with a plan to secure the Capitol miserably failed. Everyone knew that there was hundreds of thousands of people going to come to Washington D.C., and there was lots of acrimony, lots of tension going on in the entire United States. Who the heck didn’t plan to secure the U.S. Capitol properly? None of this would have happened if they would have done that,” Lesko said.

During the first hearing of the January 6 committee, filmmaker Nick Quested, who walked with a couple of hundred Proud Boys towards the Capitol, recalled seeing only one police officer at the Capitol barrier when walking past the peace circle. Quested said he later saw around 12 officers putting on riot gear.

“This reinforces my question, why wasn’t there a plan to secure the Capitol?” Lesko tweeted in response to Quested’s testimony.
