Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ-05) began sharing his plans to make the Biden Administration secure the border on Saturday during an appearance on Newsmax’s “The Benny Report.”

“We’re going to have to basically use every leverage point we have, and we’ve got a few coming up here, even in the minority. But we have to use every leverage point against Joe Biden and say you’re not going to get any spending; you’re not going to get anything you want unless you secure our border,” Biggs said.

Biggs also shared other plans he has for Biden administration officials.

“The bottom line is, if you get Republicans in Congress, what we’re going to do is, we are going to impeach [Alejandro] Mayorkas. We’ll probably have to impeach and clear out some other people, who I actually on a personal level like, but are just terrible on this issue, and they think the border is secure when it’s wide open,” he said.

Biggs is also the sponsor of an impeachment effort against U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security (DHS) Mayorkas.

“Secretary Mayorkas has willfully refused to maintain operational control of the border as required by the Secure Fence Act of 2006. His actions have directly led to an increase in illegal aliens and illegal narcotics, including deadly fentanyl, entering the United States,” according to article one of H.Res.582.

Host Benny Johnson asked if the resolve of Republicans now will be different compared to Trump Era Republicans.

“You know, Benny, I pray it will,” said Biggs, “We have to build trust, and the best way to build trust is to keep promises that you make, and if you do that, then we’ll all be happy.”

Lastly, Johnson asked Biggs if the vote to impeach happened today, would the caucus join him.

“I do. I do. I haven’t met anyone who isn’t for impeaching Mayorkas these days,” he said.

Biggs does not shy away from criticizing the Biden administration over his handling of the unprecedented number of illegal border crossers. Customs and Border Protection officers say apprehensions at the border reached record numbers last month.

On Monday, the three-term congressman doubled down on his position, tweeting, “The border crisis we are witnessing is due to the Biden Administration violating the law instead of doing their constitutional obligation to enforce the law.”

The Arizona Sun Times reached out to Bigg’s spokesperson for further comments but did not receive any by press time.
