Wisconsin officials blasted President Joe Biden following another record-setting inflation report that detailed the dramatic rise in the price of consumer goods.

The Consumer Price Index has spiked 8.5 percent from a year ago, a direct impact on residents throughout the United States.

“It is clear: inflation is not transitory. The record price increases each month are a direct result of one-party control and reckless economic policies. Families, seniors, and workers continue to get punched in the face by rising prices. It’s time for Washington to focus on addressing the issues impacting every American and get prices under control,” said Congressman Bryan Steil (R-WI-01).

As the numbers climb, the Biden administration has attempted to shift the blame. Previously, the leaders have pointed to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, oil companies, and even Texas Governor Greg Abbott.

However, a chart from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics shows an exponential rise since Biden took office in January 2021.

“Inflation has gone up every month of the Biden presidency and just hit another 40-year high. But according to the President, we should blame anyone but him. First it was meat packers and shipping companies, then it was energy suppliers, and now it’s Putin. Wisconsinites don’t buy President Biden’s inflation blame game,” added Rep. Mike Gallagher (R-WI-08).

“The reality is that the Biden administration started a war on American energy the day they took office and used the pandemic as an excuse to enact a reckless social spending agenda that has helped create this economic crisis. President Biden needs to come back to the middle – just as he promised in 2020 – and reject the insanity of the radical left in Washington, or else Americans will continue to pay the price.”
