A Michigan gubernatorial candidate is demanding to know what role Governor Gretchen Whitmer (D) played in her alleged kidnapping plot that he says was conceived by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

“Michiganders deserve an answer,” candidate Garrett Soldano said in a press release. “As we all saw last week, the FBI conceived a plot to kidnap Gretchen Whitmer and preyed on Michiganders to push it along. These events had a direct impact on the 2020 election results in Michigan, one of the most important swing states in the country. Did Gretchen Whitmer play a role in these targeted efforts to influence the 2020 election? Was Gretchen Whitmer working with the FBI to fake her own kidnapping?”

Just before the crucial 2020 elections, six men were arrested for allegedly planning to kidnap and execute Whitmer.

Though two of the men pleaded guilty to crimes related to the alleged plot, the Justice Department’s case fell apart when defense attorneys for the other four men claimed that they were entrapped by the FBI, and that the federal law enforcement agency itself hatched the kidnapping plan and led the efforts using undercover agents.

Daniel Harris and Brandon Caserta were found not guilty last week, and were cleared of wrongdoing after spending 18 months in jail. Chief District Court Judge Robert Jonker declared a mistrial in the cases of the remaining two defendants, Adam Fox and Barry Croft Jr., after a jury could not agree on a verdict.

If federal prosecutors retry Fox and Croft Jr., they will have to prove that the pair – though they did not know each other before the FBI became involved in the alleged kidnapping plot – conspired to kidnap the governor.

Soldano’s campaign manager Jon George spoke with The Michigan Star Thursday. Not only were the defendants smeared as “domestic terrorists,” he said, but so were ordinary supporters of former President Donald Trump, whom Whitmer connected to the alleged plot in order to score political points.

Patriotic Americans who opposed tyrannical lockdown orders, who wanted their schools and businesses to remain open, and who rightly believed that their medical decisions were to made themselves and not by the government, were falsely labeled as “extremists” and “domestic terrorists” by the Left. When these acts of “domestic terror” fail to materialize, corrupt politicians collude with the FBI to create fake narratives, such as this phony kidnapping plot, conveniently leading up to an election.

The FBI used this ploy to divide everyday Michiganders and and falsely label millions of voters in this great state who supported President Trump as domestic terrorists. To those Michiganders who have been smeared, bullied, and lied to – it is time to stand up to restore truth, transparency, and faith in our government.

Asked if Americans should trust the FBI, he said such government agencies are actively working against conservatives.

As Americans, we want the truth. Once we have the truth, we can make up our own minds. We must restore faith in our government and government agencies. In order for this to happen, we must have truth and transparency.

There have been bad actors who have completely eroded the people’s trust, and this fake kidnapping plot really goes to show what the elites are willing to do to keep Democrats in power. They side with the politicians who locked us down, who tried to destroy our economy, who worked to defeat President Trump – they don’t work for the American people. They work against us, and it’s time for that to change.

Soldano squares off against former Detroit Police Chief James Craig in an August 2 primary election.

The winner earns the right to take on Whitmer in the November general election.
