Rebecca Kleefisch, former Wisconsin Lieutenant Governor who is currently running a gubernatorial campaign, expanded support for her campaign, picking up the endorsement of Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds.

Reynolds, a rising star in the GOP, was selected by Republican leadership to give the rebuttal to President Joe Biden’s State of the Union address. In her remarks, the governor blasted Biden and Democrats over inflation, saying that “it feels like President Biden and his party have sent us back in time to the late ‘70s and early ‘80s.”

“As Governor of Iowa, I know what it takes to implement bold conservative reforms and lead a state to prosperity. Rebecca is the exact type of leader Wisconsin needs to get back on track,” Governor Reynolds said in a statement. “Rebecca is a proven conservative reformer who will work tirelessly to improve the lives of those around her. That’s why I’m proud to endorse Rebecca for governor and look forward to working alongside her to unleash the prosperity of our Midwestern states.”

A poll conducted by Marquette Law School showed Kleefisch leading her primary race. She picked up 30 percent of support, compared to the eight percent of her closest rival.

Kleefisch’s campaign has gathered support from across the Republican Party, including former Governor Scott Walker, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, and former Wisconsin congressional candidate Jason Church.

“During our eight years together as Governor and Lieutenant Governor, she stood with me step by step as we took on the big government special interests and pushed forward the most conservative agenda in the entire nation. All that time she was fighting her own battle with cancer. And I got to tell you, there’s no one I would rather have with me as an ally in our state capitol than Rebecca Kleefisch. She is a committed conservative who never backs away from a fight,” Walker said of the former Lieutenant Governor.
