A bill is pending before the Tennessee General Assembly that proposes the relocation of illegal aliens located in Tennessee to towns that are connected to President Joe Biden and other prominent Democrat leaders. That legislation has received a Senate sponsor.

The original legislation, HB1994, was filed by Rep. Bruce Griffey (R-Paris-HD75) on January 26, 2022. Senator Frank S. Niceley (R-Strawberry Plains-SD8) filed the Senate version, SB2636, on February 2, 2022.

The bill requires the implementation of a system for the relocation of illegal aliens who arrive in Tennessee to relocate to other locations. The system must then do the following:

(1) Reliably identify illegal aliens who have been relocated to this state by the federal government or other illegal means;

(2) Provide for an orderly and economically efficient manner of removal that minimizes costs to this state;

(3) Provide for removal with adequate speed to prevent temporary encampments by illegal aliens or their disappearance into the communities of this state prior to relocation; and

(4) Provide a mechanism for documenting arrivals and the personal information of each illegal alien that is identified, to the extent practicable

The legislation proposes that illegal aliens that are subject to removal are to be moved to Block Island, Rhode Island; Greenwich, Connecticut; Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts; Governors Island, New York; Rehoboth Beach, Delaware; Nantucket, Massachusetts; Newport, Rhode Island; Scarsdale, New York; Palo Alto, California; Yountville, California; St. Helena, California; or North Hero, Vermont.

The Tennessee Star previously reported that President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden have a home in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. Speaker Nancy Pelosi and her husband own a vineyard in St. Helena, California. President Barack Obama owns a home in Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts. White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki went to high school in Greenwich, Connecticut. U.S. Senator Sheldon Whitehouse lives in Newport, Rhode Island. U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders owns a home in North Hero, Vermont. Other cities and states mentioned have connections with prominent Democrat leaders.

Illegal aliens must be relocated as soon as possible and no later than fifteen days after arrival. The commissioner of safety is directed to make rules that comply with the Uniform Administrative Procedures Act.

The House version of the bill continues to move through the legislative process. It was referred to the State Government Committee – Government Operations for review after it was passed on second consideration on January 31, 2022. It was then assigned to the House Departments & Agencies Subcommittee on February 1, 2022, where it is on the normal calendar for consideration on February 8, 2022.

The Senate version was passed on first consideration, meaning the bill was properly filed and there were no objections to it continuing on through the normal legislative process. It must be passed on second consideration and then referred to committee to proceed forward.

The legislation would take effect on July 1, 2022 if passed by the General Assembly and signed by Governor Lee.
