A Tennessee member of the U.S. House of Representatives appeared on Fox News’ “Varney & Co.” with host Stuart Varney to discuss the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

An incredulous Varney opened the segment asking Rep. Mark Green (R-TN-07), a physician, about Americans who are vaccinated against COVID-19, but still contracting the virus.

“[President Joe Biden] is absolutely wrong about this,” Green said. “I don’t know how many patients President Biden has been seeing in the last month, but his statistics are wrong. I’m talking to my physician friends all the time. There are tons of vaccinated people hospitalized right now all across America – and this 17 to one ratio – I did a search this morning on Medline and could not find any article or published data suggesting that.”

Biden repeated the often-used line Thursday that COVID-19 is a “pandemic of the unvaccinated.”

Green noted that if Americans who were vaccinated against Polio were contracting polio, the public would be up in arms about it. But that is not the case with the COVID-19 vaccine, which only offers lower risk of serious illness, not immunity from the virus.

The subject of vaccine mandates was then discussed.

“You know, I’m a freedom guy,” Green said. “I don’t think the federal government, particularly the President of the United States – has the authority to tell businesses they have to vaccinate anyone. Clearly Omicron – the mortality from that – is practically zero, so this whole push is crazy. And they’re not even considering natural immunity, which 60 to 70 percent of the studies show is significantly better than vaccines. So, what’s coming out of Washington doesn’t make any sense.”

Green even suggested that the Biden family, specifically Biden’s son Hunter, was “in with the vaccine companies,” and that perhaps that was the reason behind the mandatory vaccine push. Hunter Biden is notorious for raking in millions of dollars while serving on the board of a Ukrainian energy company called Burisma Holdings while his father was vice president. After his vice presidency, the elder Biden bragged that he threatened to cut off foreign aid to Ukraine if a prosecutor investigating Burisma did not cease investigating the company.

Green’s office did not return a comment request.
