Bernie Kerik, former New York City Police Commissioner, will testify before the January 6th Committee, according to a letter from Kerik’s attorney obtained by Politico.

The group of lawmakers on the committee allege that Kerik was present at a meeting at the Willard Hotel on January 5, discussing multiple issues with Rudy Giuliani and others.

However, according to Kerik’s attorney, he was not present at the meeting.

After Kerik detailed he would comply with the subpoena, former President Donald Trump contended that the legislators will be provided with a different set of information.

“The Unselect Committee issued a subpoena to Bernie Kerik, an American Patriot and great former Police Commissioner of New York City, for its Jan. 6th Witch Hunt, but didn’t realize what they were demanding is a massive trove of evidence of Voter Fraud,” Trump said in a statement.

“Bernie wants to comply with the subpoena with a public hearing, and asked me to waive attorney-client privilege so Bernie can testify and provide documents, which I grant him. The Unselect Committee will not like what they asked for!”

Previously, the individuals on the legislative committee have targeted individuals who do not comply with issued subpoenas.

Steve Bannon, a former advisor to Trump, received an indictment for two related counts for defying a subpoena issued by the House of Representatives, connected to the January 6th Committee.

Bannon refused to turn over documents related to the event and testify before the group.

“I’m never going to back down. We’re going to go on offense,” Bannon said after a court appearance.

If convicted, Bannon could face a minimum of 30 days and a maximum of one year in jail, in addition to a maximum fine of $100,000.
