Major League Baseball’s (MLB) plan for starving the Atlanta metro area of revenue over the state’s sweeping election integrity reform has gone awry, as at least two games of the World Series will be played at home by the Atlanta Braves.

After the legislation passed, the MLB bent to pressure from conservative groups and moved the 2021 All-Star Game from Atlanta to Denver.

Cobb County predicted it would lose somewhere in the ballpark of $100 million after the game was moved.

Gov. Brian Kemp (R) blasted the league for its decision.

“Georgians – and all Americans – should fully understand what the MLB’s knee-jerk decision means: cancel culture and woke political activists are coming for every aspect of your life, sports included. If the left doesn’t agree with you, facts and the truth do not matter,” Kemp said at the time.

But the MLB could not stop the Braves from advancing to the World Series, where they will face off against the Houston Astros for a seven game series.

The first two games will be played in Houston, and the next three (if necessary) will be played in Atlanta, meaning that if the Braves win just one game in the series, they will play at least three games at home.

Three home games, which would be played in three consecutive nights, is roughly the equivalent of an entire All-Star weekend. That event lasts about three days.

Whether the city and the surrounding area will recoup the revenues lost from the canceled All-Star game remains to be seen.

However, several of the states surrounding Georgia do not have professional baseball teams.

The Braves’ fan base extends into the Carolinas, Tennessee, and even Alabama, which will likely mean that fans will travel from out-of-state to the Atlanta metro area for the World Series.

Kemp exacted his revenge on progressives and the MLB in a weekend tweet.

“While Stacey Abrams and the MLB stole the All-Star Game from hardworking Georgians, the Braves earned their trip to the World Series this season and are bringing it home to Georgia,” he said.
