In four separate groups over a period of less than 24 hours over the weekend, 280 unaccompanied minors illegally crossed into the United States, with Arizona as their destination.

“Within 24 hours, 4 separate groups, totaling over 400 migrants, surrendered to #Tucson Sector #BorderPatrol agents after illegally crossing the border. More than 280 were unaccompanied migrant children,” said Tucson Sector U.S. Border and Customs Protection (CBP) Interim Chief John R. Modlin on Twitter.

These minors, according to DailyMail, were taken into custody just days after the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (DHS) reported 834 unaccompanied children were apprehended in a single day last Thursday.

Associated Press reported that July was a record month for unaccompanied minors crossing the border, breaking the previous record from March.

“U.S. authorities likely picked up more than 19,000 unaccompanied children in July, exceeding the previous high of 18,877 in March, according to David Shahoulian, assistant secretary for border and immigration policy at the Department of Homeland Security,” that report said. “The June total was 15,253.”

The Biden administration’s border crisis continues to worsen.

Preliminary numbers from July show that 210,000 illegal aliens were caught crossing the border in July, up from 188,000 in June. The spike has led to outrage among Republican lawmakers.

Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ-05) said that he will file articles of impeachment against Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.

Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX-21) recently wrote a letter, co-signed by 19 other Republicans, to Mayorkas demanding transparency about the Biden administration’s border policies.

That letter said:

These numbers are appalling and are a direct result of the Biden Administration’s weak border policies and your lackluster performance as the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security. DHS’s mission is “with honor and integrity, we will safeguard the American people, our homeland.”

Frankly, you are not fulfilling that mission.

The southern border is in crisis despite the Biden Administration’s refusal to call it what it is.TheAmerican people can see the numbers, and Americans in communities across the nation are feeling the burden of our open borders. Due to the unprecedented nature of this crisis, it is dangerously irresponsible for your Department to not be as transparent as possible with the American people, the states of this union, and the localities facing the frontline effects of this crisis.
