A citizen walking down a street in Minneapolis stumbled across a human leg, wrapped in plastic, behind the Ukrainian American Community Center. This prompted an investigation where other human body parts were found in various parts of Minneapolis. Another Minneapolis resident found human remains in his neighbor’s driveway. The police have not disclosed what other body parts have been found, other than that the injuries would be fatal.

The Minneapolis Police Department’s director of information, John Elder, said, “Parts of the anatomy that we located had they been removed from somebody, they would not have been able to survive.” The police department is asking the public to be vigilant because they have not recovered all of the body parts that are necessary for the investigation.

Neighbors were disturbed by this crime, as police officers taped off the areas for investigation and brought in police dogs to try and discover if there were more human remains in the vicinity. “I’m just shocked. Who would have thought to put body parts there,” a local, Amy Apperson, said.

Law enforcement is treating this investigation as a homicide, but there are other theories. Elder said, “Somehow a cadaver may have been obtained and cut up or done whatever with. We’re treating this as a homicide, that’s our operating theory at this time.”

It believes that the body parts are from a white male in his 30s, and are comparing the evidence they have gathered to missing persons reports and obtaining video footage from the areas. The body parts discovered seemed to be “fresh” and not decomposed.

Law enforcement is asking for anyone with information or tips to call 911 or leave a tip with Crime Stoppers of Minnesota.
